Expo 2020 Dubai – general information
Expo 2020 Dubai is a platform for experiences, discovery, innovation, exchange of ideas and collaboration. It was postponed by one year due to Corona and will now take place from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.
The motto is: “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, or in German: “Connecting thoughts, shaping the future”.
The world exhibition aims to inspire people based on the best examples of collaboration, innovation and cooperation from all over the world. Innovations such as the telephone (Philadelphia, 1876), the Eiffel Tower (Paris, 1889), the Ferris wheel (Chicago, 1893), the X-ray machine (Buffalo, 1901), ice cream cones (St. Louis, 1904), television ( New York, 1939), IMAX (Osaka, 1970), touchscreens (Knoxville, 1982) and the humanoid robot (Nagoya, 2005).

Expo 2020 Dubai - our area of activity
We look after two pavilions at the same time. Including the German Pavilion and the Monegasque Pavilion. Before we start, we asked our project manager Nicolas Pachatz a few more questions.
“On March 28th it starts and the first part of the employees involved in the project flies to Dubai. How many employees will there be there in total? “
Nicolas: “A total of 15 employees from sld mediatec as well as 13 external employees will be posted. On March 28 eight men are flying to Dubai for the time being. You take care of the first tasks, which are in the area of organization and logistics. All other employees will join us within the next few weeks. “
“The project was planned last year, but was postponed due to Corona. Have you made any changes to the project in the meantime? What do you have to consider about Corona? “
Nicolas: “The time was used productively by all sides and changes were made. Since Expo 2020 Dubai is heavily concerned with future technologies, there are always new, current ideas for exhibits. In the meantime, media technologies have also developed further, so of course we always use the latest from the newest. Regarding Corona: We ensure the safety of our employees there by working in conformity with Corona and also according to German and UAE regulations. “
“What will be the biggest challenges in this project?”
Nicolas: “The coordination with the other trades and their systems. But also the variety of technologies used in general. ”
“Does anything have to be planned before departure?”
Nicolas: “We will continue to plan and optimize the technical as well as the design side. Many technical solutions for complex problems can only be precisely defined on site. In addition, the connection and coordination with the other trades is a permanent creative process and requires maximum flexibility. But the past has shown that we are up to such challenges and that is why we are all looking forward to this great project. “
