Conversion of a fashion house into a hotel and various retail stores.
Project
In 2008, the fashion house C&A had moved out of the building in Richard-Wagner-Strasse. The house stood empty until Kochinvest Unternehmensgruppe, acquired it in September 2015. The 1st and 2nd floors were let to the B&B Hotels group, while the first floor area of over 2,000m² was divided up and let to various retail stores.
A complete renovation followed, designed for the new use of the building. The hotel with approx. 90 guest rooms plus granny annexe and the stores (Brunner Bäcker, Mäc Geiz, Netto) now make the entire area attractive for visitors again and enhance the entire shopping street.
The tight construction schedule was particularly challenging (B&B Hotel and Netto: January 2018 to October 2018; Mäc Geiz: November 2018 to March 2019; Brunner Bäcker: September 2020 to October 2020; Unit expansion: November 2020 to December 2020). In addition, many plan adjustments were necessary during the building remodel because the dismantling process revealed how inaccurate the old building plan was.
