After three years of construction, the koelnmesse Confex opened on June 28, 2024. The new venue sets new standards for modern conferences, trade shows, and hybrid events. For the first time, more than 6,200 conference attendees can gather in one place. The Confex Hall alone can accommodate up to 4,300 people.
The building combines flexible space concepts with a fully digitized infrastructure. This makes it possible to host live events, hybrid formats, and international events at a high technical standard.
sld mediatec Installs 72-Meter-Long Media Mesh
sld mediatec contributed to this forward-looking project with state-of-the-art media technology. A particular highlight is the 72-meter-long Media Mesh on the facade of the koelnmesse Confex.
On this scale, the media facade is unique in Europe. It makes the building visible from the outside and creates an impressive digital display area. Content, brand messages, and visual presentations can thus be displayed in an eye-catching way in the outdoor area.
Digital facade with a unique construction method
Despite its size, the media facade has little impact on the interior spaces behind it. Thanks to its special construction, the view to the outside remains largely unobstructed. The view of Cologne Cathedral is particularly impressive.
In this way, Media Mesh combines a strong visual impact with high practicality for everyday use within the building. The digital façade integrates functionally into the architecture and enhances it with a modern media dimension.
Indoor LED Displays and Digital Signage
In addition to the facade installation, sld mediatec also equipped the interior with numerous LED displays and digital signage solutions. These support wayfinding, communication, and visual presentation throughout the building.
Digital content can be played back flexibly and adapted to different events. This is particularly important for a venue that hosts conferences, trade shows, corporate events, and hybrid formats alike.
Media Technology for a Forward-Looking Venue
With the koelnmesse Confex, a modern event and convention venue has been created that seamlessly integrates digital communication with architecture. The 72-meter-long Media Mesh, the LED displays, and the digital signage systems play a key role in achieving this goal.
